L Is for Learn: Stop Building a Wardrobe for a Life You Don’t Live A.L.A.D.Y. Method
🍸 TIPSY TUESDAY
L — LEARN YOUR LIFESTYLE
Stop Building a Wardrobe for a Life You Don’t Live
This one can be really relatable, because so many women aren't necessarily buying “bad” clothes—they're buying clothes that don't match how they actually live.
The opening hook
Sis…who are you actually shopping for? 👀
The woman who goes to work five days a week?
The woman running errands, attending meetings, going to church, having date nights and occasionally going to an event?
Or the imaginary woman in your head who has brunch reservations every Saturday, vacations twice a month and needs 17 cocktail dresses? 😂🍸
That's where we're going this week.
The Sip 🍸
After assessing your closet last week, now I want you to look at your life.
Because one of the biggest wardrobe mistakes I see isn't necessarily women buying ugly clothes.
It's women buying beautiful clothes for lives they don't actually live.
You can love sequins. You can love heels. You can love designer handbags. You can love a dramatic dress.
But if 80% of your life requires polished casual pieces, workwear and comfortable shoes—and 70% of your closet is “special occasion” clothing—we've found the problem.
Your wardrobe and your lifestyle aren't speaking the same language.
📅 Your Calendar Should Help Build Your Closet
Here's your homework before you shop again:
Pull up your calendar from the last 30 days.
Where did you actually go?
Work?Church?Meetings? Kids/grand kids activities?Date nights?Networking events?Travel?Brunch?Formal events?
Now look at your closet.
Does the percentage of clothing you own match the percentage of time you spend living those parts of your life?
THAT is learning your lifestyle.
And this is where the L in the A.L.A.D.Y. Method™ starts working.
👗 Stop Shopping for Your Fantasy Life
Here's where I'm probably going to step on a few toes. 😂
Sometimes we're not shopping for ourselves.
We're shopping for:
“When I lose 20 pounds…”“When somebody invites me somewhere…”“When I finally take that vacation…”“When I start going out more…”
Meanwhile, Monday morning comes around and we're standing in front of a packed closet saying:
“I don't have anything to wear to work.”
That's not a clothing shortage.
That's a wardrobe strategy problem.
💰 This Is Also How We Stop Wasting Money
Before buying something, ask yourself:
Where am I wearing this?
Can I wear it with at least three things I already own?
Does it fill an actual gap in my wardrobe?
Does it work for the life I'm living TODAY?
Because here's this week's quote:
A sale isn't savings if you never wear what you bought.
And something being beautiful, trendy or perfect on somebody else doesn't automatically make it right for your wardrobe.

💬 This Week's Closet Confession
Complete this sentence in the comments:
“I keep buying __________ even though I spend most of my time __________.”
😂 And don't clean it up for me. I want the truth!
Mine might be: “I keep buying ______ even though…”
I'll be in the comments, because some of y'all are about to tell on yourselves. 😂🍸
Closing / CTA
Your wardrobe doesn't need to look like mine, your favorite influencer's or the woman you follow on Pinterest.
It needs to work for YOU.
That's what personal style actually is.
And if you're realizing that you own plenty of clothes but still don't have a wardrobe that supports your lifestyle, that's exactly where wardrobe strategy and personal styling come in.
